TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo
OHA requested in its complaint that the court terminate UH's general lease on the mountain for breach of terms

OHA?
Complaining someone else made a breach of terms?
Surely they jest.

If the policies and practices of DHHL and OHA are indicative of what is to be expected from an independent Hawaiian nation-state, count me out.

It's about time that OHA and others besides the TMT see the real light and monopoly on the summit of Mauna Kea.

Why only the select or chosen Kona resorts and Arnotts in Hilo making the daily tour money?
Do the current tours educate or share Hawaiian culture with the hundreds of thousands of yearly paying visitors?
Why no Food trucks operated by Hawaiians or locals?
Why no convenience store ran by Hawaiians?
Where is the many current observatories rent money?
where is my Man made snow and ski lift?

Forum Police, you don't have to answer any of these repeated Questions. jmo

Thanks. What are the overnight stimpmeter readings or do you have to wait until dawn to read them? What will you do if the greens are not in the best shape they could be? Do you have to go to court to make sure you aren't in violation of the Indian natives' cultural concerns about where the greens and bunkers are located? How much rent do you pay them?

My appreciation for ignoring the questions in advance.

King TomK, Top of the morning to you Sir.

Sure didn't expect the Chief of the Forum Police himself to respond or answer any of my repeated questions. As to Your new unfounded questions, they are snarky and don't make any since this time of year. Well i too like to ask questions, so here are a few more TomK.

TomK, Why not tell it how it is up on the Mauna these days?

Does Most of the large telescopes on Mauna Kea pay any rent? If so, How much?
Is there Millions of dollars exchanging hands for the use of telescope time on Mauna Kea?
Do the astronomers themselves become daily or weekly tour guides of the facilities for the thousands of visiting tourists?
Do the telescopes have or use drains? Do those large drains pour into holding tanks or into the ground below the telescope?
Does UH own or lease the summit of Mauna Kea?
If the TMT was built on the summit of Mauna Kea would the TMT be decommissioned in 2033 with the many other Telescopes, or be granted a possible unwanted extension?
Would the TMT have a multi-million dollar a year electric bill or contract with Helco?

The million a year TMT offer made to the selected Hawaiian Keiki may be a disrespecting slap in the face to some. Could you TomK, help explain or break down the reasons behind the million a year offer made to the Keiki of Hawaii?
In return, what resources in all, or how much are the Keiki and future generations of Hawaii unknowingly sacrificing to share their Mauna Kea with the TMT corporation?

What if there is a moss, lichen, bug or higher energy on the summit of Mauna kea that may lead to a cure for cancer, Aids or Lupus. Would you TomK, want to destroy these possibilities and rare life forms that currently exists on the TMT site before understanding them completely?
Why must we continue to disregard or push for the extinction of rare life forms on our own planet in order to try and find life on other planets we may never be able to reach in our lifetimes?
Thankfully Indians are recognized people who have rights in today's times. What does it mean to be Kanaka or Hawaiian today? JMQ's

Here are a recent video explaining OHA's lawsuit and an article about UH and the states response.

TomK, have a nice day.

Edited to add.

Recently I spoke to a young Kam school graduate, now in college. His take on all this: "Those kapuna protesting TMT are taking away our future. When protesters say they are doing this for the keiki, they are wrong. Ask the keiki!"

First Rooster crow of the morning to you Mr gypsy,

What if, upon completion of the TMT, a large asteroid is discovered hurtling toward earth. Due to the thirty meter mirror and light gathering power of the TMT the asteroid is spotted months before any other telescope in the northern hemisphere has the capability of finding it. This gives Elon Musk and NASA the critical time necessary to launch a deep space mission and divert the path of the giant rock.

Then, questions like Why no Food trucks operated by Hawaiians or locals? become quite inconsequential. In fact, every other question becomes meaningless because if life on earth, if even the earth itself is destroyed, does it matter where is my Man made snow and ski lift?

That's not a rhetorical question. I will save some time and answer it for you. The answer is no.

Then ask yourself another question. Has an asteroid ever hit the earth and impacted life here in the past? Did it matter? Yes. Are the questions you've asked gypsy, just as likely to occur or impact us in the same way? No, no they would not.

Assume TMT is not built, and the asteroid is not diverted, so it causes a mass extinction event: this is what humanity deserves, for refusing to use its gifts, looking to the heavens in search of meaning.

How many times are you going to keep asking the same nonsense questions? They were answered the first time.
Enjoy the mainland. Must feel good to get back to where you came from, if only to take advantage of the opportunities available there that aren't here, partly because of Luddites like yourself.

If they ever build your proposed ski resort on MK, I'll let you know.

Assume TMT is not built, and the asteroid is not diverted...

I assume if the TMT is built, and if an asteroid is spotted and diverted, gypsy will be among the first to fly from Maryland to Hawaii, rent a car at Kona airport, drive up to the summit of Mauna Kea, and say a simple, ancient prayer of gratitude and thanks to something constructed by human hands, nestled in the northern plateau of the summit. Even gypsy might recognize that as a substantial gift to the keiki of Hawaii, and the keiki of the world. Even his own keiki,
