If I understand correctly, it's just the case that there's no plume any more at the ocean entry.
I hope this doesn't mean the lava is repositioning itself for another go at Pahoa.

It's all still headed in the same direction and the entry plume is off and on right now .

The webcams don't show the ocean entry.

Shutting down the new shopping center before it's even built...

If I were them, I would create a giant berm to channel any future flow, but claim it is for noise abatement or security reasons. Waiting until it is already on the way and saying it is for lava diversion seems to not be acceptable to some folks.

They're at a naturally occurring high point anyway, Malama Shopping center is low, and the road to the dump is low, so the lava might flow around it on it's own or with minimal "abatement."

Of course, if they end up a shopping kipuka, they might have to close down at least until things cool off.

I think..

looks out over the coast and the ocean entry plume, when present, is very clear. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I have seen it there before. Maybe someone with more knowledge of this will confirm or deny.

yes, HPcam is viewing the ocean entry and coastal plain. it is visible when it is there. the HVO daily update provides an explanation to all these questions. most of the activity is at the upper flow field.
