In the town where I was born, lived a man who sailed to sea and he told us of his life in the land of submarines. So we sailed up to the sun Till we found the sea of green and we lived beneath the waves in our yellow submarine....."The Beatles 1966"

For those too yound to remember, rolling papers in the 60's were often yellow, and a hand rolled joint vaguely resembled a submarine....Especially after smoking one.)

so the song was actually named after a joint and the term "sea of green" that is used today was taken from that song....

Just a little Dope Trivia Wink

What a hoot! I just love where our threads run...hehehehe!

So as a teenager I owned A Child's Garden of Grass...I grew a plant from Hawaiian Gold 3rd generation seeds someone gave me...I kept it in my room under a desk with a light on it...I had a board in front of the desk so my dad wouldn't see...I came home one day after a gig (sang in a rock band) and it was gone and my father had shredded it up and threw it in the garbage compactor. He ranted about the cops could come and we'd losing the house, etc.

To this day he thinks it was something called "African Coleus" and that it was a rare plant and he felt guilty after my dramatic, heartbreaking floorshow. LOL! I had forgotten about that one...

Well, I sure am different. Never tried drugs and never even smoked pakalolo in my life. Growing up in the communist country we truly believed the Yellow Submarine was really a submarine. I guess I am too old to start now, huh? Smile

Aloha John perhaps the real difference in you is substantially more brain cells than some of us. I would think though that if a person were to try pakalolo for the first time, later in life would be better than earlier, at least you would have a better understanding why you couldn't stop laughing.Smile)) You should be aware though that there are some 400 chemicals in first rate weed but it is the THC that effects the brain the most, thats tetrahydrocannabinol, say that with flannel-shirt tongue.....

For those that say it is only a natural substance so isn't LSD, which comes from morning glory seeds, the Aztecs first used it to commune with their gods...then there is peyote or mesculine which comes from cactus plants and of course there are those magic mushrooms out there...now most of these are defininately hallucinogenic and I suppose there is some weed out there that can actually distort the perception of objective reality so should you ever dare wear your seatbelt and let the other guy go firstSmile)))lol

Thanks Nancy for starting this thread it has been very interesting reading all the comments I hope the irradication effects in your neighborhood have made you feel a little more comfortable in your new surroundings, try to remember though it is a weed and it is apt to be growing besides your front steps one day without you even realizing. It is not all seedless....Wink

Thanks Dave...there is none on our lot maybe because we did the dreaded total grubbing. But I will watch out for it! The thought came to me of the danger to people who are handclearing lots and may run into one of those traps...the first day here we showed up with our weedwacker and in we went....lucky for us no problems. Now I am concerned for the bulldozer people and the surveyers. And especially the innocent kids that may wonder into one of those traps. Yes, it does make me feel more comfortable with the eradication going on. I don't want it anywhere near me and my family. I guess i am quite niave and get in trouble because I just speak about experiences and what I believe. Yeah I am new to the area and it shows, but if its a custom and against the law then I say out with the custom. I will never agree that that stuff should be legal as well as other natural occuring plant based drugs. Heck life is tough enough without everyone hooked on any of that stuff. As far as using it for medicine...that may be what it is here for but that needs to be in the hands of the medical community. We live in a civilized society with laws to provide freedom to all. Works better than anything else I can think of.

Nancy, although I wrote philosophically, in practice I am where you are. One reason my late mother's husband won't come to Hawaii to see me is because I refuse to all him to smoke mj at my home or anywhere around me. He thinks I am absurd. I think it should be a personal choice but my personal choice is NO NO NO.

Anyway, I find your straightforward approach and conversation totally delightgful... as I always find you.

So, when you coming over? Pam

Dave . . . shame on you!

It's common knowledge that toking a joint is only the beginning. In addition to causing boils, gout, rickets, lumbago, male pattern baldness, trench foot, beriberi, and left-handedness it will also inevitably lead one to snort LSD and "drop" heroin (as you godless heathen hippies would say).

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to get back to watching 'Reefer Madness'

aloha,
Gene
