Luquins to reopen

They will probably do better business at the new location.
Think the boardwalk area's crunchy ness drives away a lot of money

I read that the KFC went out of business because the dining area was too big. A smaller footprint and lease payment would have made it profitable. Instead of closing they should have co-located another Yum! brand restaurant in that space. (Taco Bell or Pizza Hut). I noticed on Kauai where the rents are sky high the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut are in the same building, and in Alaska the KFC and Pizza Hut were too. And so long as your order was over $20 they would deliver KFC or Pizza, or both.

Sometimes you get all three; it's called a "Kentucky Taco Hut".

according to the Big Island now.com KFC's closing was likely just another episode in the ordeal of the jerk who owned it and owns the BK's on the island...constantly sued for not paying construction costs, rent, utilities, etc.

In May the developer of Woodland Center filed a lawsuit against Kazi Foods Corp. of Hawaii, the franchisee of Kentucky Fried Chicken, for more than $300,000 in costs pertaining to both the construction of the restaurant and the extension road connecting Kahakai Boulevard intersection at Highway 130, which provides access to the stores.
It’s unclear if this lawsuit was a factor in the restaurant’s closure. Beyond the sign on the door, there has been no public notification or explanation of the business closure.

Glad to hear about it. I hope, though, it doesn't have a bar. Probably not a popular opinion, but the bar at the old Luquin's was always too loud to eat in, and we are not sports fans so couldn't care less about what game was playing.

I don't care if it has a bar either, as long as they serve margarita's!

Profits from a bar, can carry even a mediocre restaurant.

Does anyone know when Luquins will open at the new location? Sal told me he was hoping to open by Christmas and then again for New Year.
I hope they have their liquor License by now. Hopefully, they’re getting close to opening.
