bankruptcy arising from your proposed endgame?
I was thinking more "closed-loop economy", a sort of perpetual motion.
This is telling, though:

The TIO board has set April as a deadline ... Oral arguments have been set for March 15 in the sublease case, but have not been scheduled for the permit appeal. TMT opponents were granted a 10-day extension for filing briefs in the permit appeal Friday. That follows an earlier one-month extension.
Sounds like the "protectors" have almost run out the clock. Maybe we should hire them to fight the GET increase?

Maybe direct rule from Wash. DC. after bankruptcy arising from your proposed endgame?[8D]
Like direct rule of Ulster from London in the 70's, 80's into the 1990's ?
I just can envision all the fun.[]
More like direct neglect from Washington DC as is being paid to Puerto
Rico... which will be amply deserved.

Irony is a rep from Maui - Ing - is introducing legislation to fund a study about the possibility of giving everyone a government job.

Are the reasons for the two extensions available online, i.e., court records? I'm not sure where to look but want to know what justification they used to get the extensions. This is news to me. Thanks.

The public hearing on SB3090 was held yesterday. Hawaii Public Radio reports there were 644 testimonies against the bill (they neglected to say how many there were supporting it).

Big Island Video News also has a couple of videos of some of the hearing:

Interesting video: Kai Kahele is a bully. I knew his Dad pretty well and he was a real gentleman with the interest of the broader public at heart: can't at all say the same for Kai - he has permanently lost any future votes from me.

To all participants on this thread-
Both pro and anti testimony comments are confusing.
The whole context of the argument is deliberately
confused by the language as written by the Legislature.
Why? some legislators on this Committee are former OHA
people and allies and cronies.
Duh, What does any one expect?
SB 3090 is just legislative approval for OHA's Mafia/ "Protectors"
extortion activities.[}

For those wishing to see the testimonies regarding SB3090, they can be viewed via three links all via

Almost 100% opposed the bill. Geochem, tend to agree. Some of Kahele's badgering of Stephanie Nagata was over the top and uncalled for.

Kahele's behavior was typical of ineffective grandstanding politicians. Word on Hilo campus is he lost lots of temporary support he had after last semester's 'audit' call and public meetings for all the new high-level administration positions, but cutting classes and professors.
All his personal plans for UH Hilo are going to fall through since he is doing what he says he is against. Pushing things through behind closed doors, while catering to a perception of transparency. Ever heard of the aviation program at UH Hilo? That is his and his dad's 'baby'... Where did the money go, Senator?
