Friends that live in Kalapana said that all Local traffic is being allowed into Kalapana now. Cops at checkpoint are just waving people thru
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Hmmm... So I guess so much for stopping looters in that neck of the woods and preserving the road where the cracks are? I had to wait in line a while to get a placard and show about 3 kinds of ID. Wonder why the sudden change...

Wonder why the sudden change... UPDATE: So I just spoke with a very helpful person from CD and it looks like they have moved the checkpoint on 130 to Leilani Ave. to allow people access up to there. You still need a resident placard to go past or south of Leilani on 130.

Heads up - plates on 130 are becoming unstable - raising several inches in places and up over 230 deg F.
