Anyone know how to remove the "fins" on the T Posts?

Lay the shaft on something solid (a pallet works well, doesn't scratch the paint/galvanized coating), fin down, pound with small sledgehammer until it comes off -- the fin is press-fit, not welded to the post.

Not sure of your application but if you've drilled holes into the rock to accept the post just set the post in the hole and use a post driver. The fins fall off. I didn't know they aren't welded, that makes sense.

They are kind of glued on by the galvanizing but they come right off with proper motivation. If driving into a drilled hole, drive until the fins are at ground level then knock them off. The post is firmly held by the rock allowing the hammer to do its work.

1 1/2" although it was a tiny bit large. You could still pull the post back out some of the time. Still holds the fence up just fine though. I have used 1 3/8" in the past. That was pretty tight but you could still pound the post in.

There is a product for cementing the posts in, I think it's called Rocktite.

Thanks for the tip about rockite. I had been using concrete mix but it doesn't seem to work very well in very small quantities. I have a 1.5" bit and it's just a tad too large for the T posts.
