No More Plastic

"In the early 1960's Heinekien came up with these beer bottles https://inhabitat.com/heineken-wobo-the-...olds-beer/"

I wish manufacturers would return to the old ways. When the companies that sold animal feed and bags of things like flour found out that poor people were using them to make clothes they started adding patterns to them that rotated, so a farm wife could get enough to make a dress or whatever and then later a new pattern was used so all her dresses didn't have to look the same.

There are a few pasta sauce companies that make jars specifically that fit mason jar lids, and some drink companies that sell their wares in a container that becomes a drinking glass after the lid is removed.

Herz a nice one. Has a lid, just the right size for 8 X 8 per day folks and it's something maybe not everyone has tried before.

Apologies RandomQ, I was indeed referencing congresswoman AOC. Who's is pushing things like a call to "eliminate emissions from cows or air travel" — which Mazie neva' like — and to provide “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”

"Banning plastic straws seemed, at first, to be silly. After some reflection, I now see straws as more symbolic of our feckless lifestyle. It causes one to think about plastic use. Does anyone drink beverages from straws at home?"

Good point!

By the way, the issue isn't plastic in general, it's single-use plastic, at least for now.

The same goes for plastic versus paper bags. Paper bags are hands-down way worse for the environment than plastic (here's an article from a liberal, anti-capitalism news outlet to explain how https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/0...11547.html ). Plastic gets demonized because we can see it in the ocean, but if one looks at the larger environmental picture the only real solution is to keep reusing or recycling things.

And there it is. Cut to the chase shine a light on the real problem. Thanks geochem. Though I suspect most would say it's a conspiracy theory. Some version of an us verses them OMG we can't let THAT happen. When in fact that is at the core of all humanity's problems. We've overburdened the planet and are killing it with our greed.

Yeah, and yet there’s no end to the efforts of society to encourage people to have even more kids.
