No More Plastic

cut back on procreating

The state or county should do something about this problem.
They should hire people for positions that require them to procreate from 9 to 5 every day. Then once it becomes their job description, the birth rate, like all government productivity, will plummet.

I look forward to seeing your secret solar kiln Kalakoa. As a bonus, it could melt down any wayward NIMBY or big brother types!

In the meantime, I don't use plastic straws and cup covers at places like Panda that hand out only paper cups and leave these other choices to their patrons. It's also often possible to decline these at restaurants that provide them at the counter. I really don't miss these doodads which don't seem to enhance my fast-food dining much and probably pile up in our landfills at a prodigious rate. Not sure others will find this to be a sanitary option, but I also wipe and re-use my plastic fork which I store in my glove box and try to remember to bring with me when I go back to Panda. I suppose these procedures are just a matter of altering old routines?

On a related subject, has anyone heard what the future plans are for the ocean trash-gathering boom now floating in Hilo harbor might be? Hope they can resolve the issues they were having with its deployment/operation. I wish them luck in this worthy effort to address the ocean-borne waste.

I understand that it will be disposed of by a larger trash-gathering boom currently in development.

From the little bits of info here and there on their social media sites and web site.. its basically back to the drawing board. They are looking at data collected by onboard sensors, and will look for ways to improve Long floaty thing 1.0 ... Perhaps version 2.0 will last longer.

Now they are just burning money and selling 17.00 tote bags. That support ship out there is expensive to keep sitting Idle.

I've been to that restaurant, there is a sign near the permitted urinal instructing the employees they must wash their hands before leaving the restroom. Unfortunately there weren't any paper towels, so one is left to wonder what they wiped their hands on to dry them.

Paper towels make “interesting” rolling papers.
