It's a crap job, the pay is lousy, nobody learns, nothing ever changes.
I haven't figured out why, so I'm left to assume that either people like things the way they are, or enough (if not "most") people are somehow unaffected by County's actions (or lack thereof).
Perhaps it's just a mistake on my part, and I just need a different hobby.

The exact opposite of a county position, elected or unelected:
Work at your own pace
Great pay
Fantastic retirement benefits
And as one council member pointed out last term, you don’t even have to work if you find your job description goes against your conscience. Even if it’s a brand new part of your conscience. And, in addition... it’s not against your strictly delineated principles to cash the paycheck for the job you’re not doing.

This is so wrong. If it was me, and I had the funds, a road would appear in the middle of the night for me and my neighbors. May take a few nights, but it would be done. Then of course deny all involvement and blame it on the menehune.

The notion of "4pm" includes travel time; County generally won't visit Puna after lunch.

Here are some timeframes from USGS for how long it may take the recent lava flow to solidify, and presumably allow D-9’s to rip and clear accessible roads:
But they do have some good estimates:
• The lava that erupted last year at the average flow thickness of around 33 to 50 feet could take up to 18 months to solidify.
• Lava flows that were 65 to 100 feet thick, however, could take 2 1/2 years to six years to harden.
• And the thickest flows on land of about 180 feet may not fully solidify until 2040.

So ... the PGV and Pohoiki access roads both have molten lava somewhere underneath?

I've heard some suggest that means there are hills in the Kapoho area 900 feet high verses the flow front pushed out into an area off shore that is 900 feet deep, thus creating what is technically 900 feet of rock, but it is measured from the sea floor up.
