Hey folks, just back from Alaska and I see our dirt roads have been taken care of. Not much mowing, but at least the road is ok.

I was disturbed to get a message via snail mail that essentially told me the HPP Manager is not responsible to the membership because they are an independent company and I understand there's some kind of lawsuit against a member. What's going on now?

Imagine my surprise though, that I see nothing has changed on getting mailboxes.

Thanks for the info Mermaid. I just got back from the mainland myself.
Eric, the GM is suing a board member. I heard he threatened to sue two board members last year but this time not a threat. District 1 the incumbent has threatened members at board meetings and thinks he should be voted in for another three years? District 6 incumbent the shoddy chip seal president who says the membership doesn't matter the board can do whatever they want thinks he should be voted in for another three years? This is messed up. When they mess up they shouldn't be allowed to run again.

Is the turnout for these votes so low that they keep getting re-elected?

I'm pretty shocked at how incompetently everything is being managed. Multiple years of grumbling and we can't even get mail service. I don't know how people can expect more complex problems to be addressed like fixing road and making more expensive general improvements to HPP. When we have a manager that claims he didon't need to listen to the members and sues board membmers, what can we expect?

It's like the kids are running the playschool and the 1st graders argue over how to do it better.

I've lost confidence in the elections for awhile now. I heard through the coconut wireless that the printing company couldn't print the ballots this year so everything's getting done in the office by the general manager and board directors. Convenient when you have those two directors running again.

The general manager can't do what he does without cooperation from directors. The other story going around is the board is going into arbitration. Seems a board member refused to resign after they reprimanded her. At the last board meeting I heard a lot owner gave the board a demand letter from an attorney representing lot owners . The demand was to conduct a forensic audit immediately and the other was to keep the GM away from the elections. Has anyone heard anything more about this?
The dirctors and general manager's priorities are f'd up. No wonder nothings getting done right. What's happening with our road fee money?

There is a mailbox committee, they have been able to get the 1mil worth of mail boxes for free from the usps, keaau post master

. They have several hurdles to pas before mailboxes will. BE installed
Most of which involve tne use of , grading etc for the centrally located boxes, when they happen.

Im Sure u could get a recent report to the board from them.
Aloha

Leo, if you can get on to FB, the whole PDF of the letter from Revere and Associates is there in HPP Next door. It was presented to the BOD.
It basically has 2 “respectful demands”.
1. Do the Forensic Audit. (as unanimously voted for by the Membership in Oct. 2017)
2. Keep GM out of our Elections.
Nice start.

Unfortunately there weren't many lot owners present at the Meet the Candidates Forum. I heard the Nominating Committee had to pay out of pocket for the refreshments and service ware since the majority board voted the request for funding down.
I also heard the current president Dist 1 and secretary Dist 6 didn't attend.

Thanks for the info Kenney.

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by, "independent company"? I've never heard this spin before. The GM is RESPONSIBLE TO THE MEMBERSHIP as an employee of the Association.

That's true Leo, it was a small turnout. The NC had to pay out of pocket but we were happy to host this event just the same to give the candidates an opportunity to meet their constituents. We felt it was important.

Sky Goodheart running in District 6 had laryngitis but took the opportunity to meet with her constituents which speaks volumes of who she is. Brian Ingalls from District 1 also attended and was very engaging. He said he's retired and has the time to devote to representing his district. A District 1 lot owner had asked whether Larry Kawaauhau's attendance at board and membership meetings would change if he prevailed in this election? He said his current rep has left very early at every board meeting for the past 3 yrs and once installed as president, has been absent at most meetings. The lot owner didn't feel his district has been represented since Larry Kawaauhau's been their representative and is concerned about the next 3 yrs. District 1 and 6 members, cast your vote in the election.
