Thanks for the mailbox update Mermaid. What a lot of hogwash. Nothing gets done when there are 2 committees working separately on the same project and there was absolutely no need for any board committee when the Membership Mailbox Committee had been doing an excellent job. From all I read, this committee met all the criteria, especially concerning our insurance and USPS's needs... yet then that just was to good to be true I guess. Some board members have real control issues to the detriment of ALL HPPOA. Since I only live in HPP part time now, it is not logical for me to be involved as I once was but that does not mean I don't care. I used to have lots of relatives in HPP. Lots that lived in HPP long ago. That number has dwindled.Any way, no plan is perfect and tweaking would need to be done but to totally want to change the plan is ludicrous. The board does not appear to be doing anything positive with regard to our lack of mail boxes, just making it more likely that USPS will walk. I am sure the board committee will blame anyone but themselves.

And I stand by my statement that if there were ZERO mailboxes in HPP things would be getting done.

"An Emergency board meeting is being called by District 1 and District 6 for on Sunday May 19, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Activity center Library, going directly to Executive Session."
In the words of Indiana Jones, this can't be good.

Received a 2019 past due road maintenance reminder from HPP today. Previous years the board sent me bills regularly and I paid them promptly. This year the board sent my bills late and now I have to pay a penalty. Checked out the website hppoa.com but it says "Account has been suspended by the Netcom Cloud Support team". I'm not in the island but the board has my address, telephone number and probably my email address. So what's going on with HPPO board? It's only 2 months delayed and my penalty is $5.92 but hey, it's still extra money out of my pocket!

Leilani, glad you were able to assist with the HPP website link.

Alpogi8, do you still have the envelope from your road maint fee billing? If so, you can provide a snapshot of the postmark to the GM and/or your district rep via email. You're right, you should not be charged a penalty fee if the billing was delayed.

There is currently a lot of misinformation being spread on various HPP facebook pages. Please consider the source it is coming from and possible motives.
FACT: THERE STILL IS AN HPP BOARD. Five board directors resigned this past week. Dist's 2,3,4,6 and 8. D2 Mary Couch gave her resignation well before her last board mtg 19 Jun 2019. D9 Dave Roe submitted his resignation back in I believe Mar 2019. D3 Kathleen Shaw, D4 Tanya Seaver/Moore, D6 Craig Crelly, put in their resignations the night of the board mtg, written and verbal and it is recorded. They said their resignations were effective 19 Jun 2019. D8 Chris Anderson and D1 Larry Kawaauhau weren't in attendance at the 19 Jun 2019 board mtg. The GM told D5 rep on 21 Jun 2019 that D8 Chris Anderson submitted his resignation on 20 Jun 2019 (the day after the board meeting). The HPP website shows there is a total of 6 vacancies which was posted on Jun 20th, 2019.
See the following laws the current board of three are abiding by. Here's the FACTS.
HPP Bylaw Article VIII Sec 6 Vacancy. "Vacancies in the board shall be announced within two business days on the HPPOA website and bulletin board. They shall be filled by vote of the majority of the remaining directors, even though they may constitute less than a quorum......."
Hawaii Revised Statutes 414D-141 (a) "Unless the articles or bylaws provide others, and except as provided in subsections (b) and ©, if a vacancy occurs on a board of directors, including a vacancy resulting from an increase in the number of directors: (3) If the directors remaining in office constitute fewer than a quorum of the board, they may fill the vacancy by the affirmative vote of a majority of all the directors remaining in office."
State law [§414-200] Vacancy on board. (a) "Unless the articles of incorporation provide otherwise, if a vacancy occurs on a board of directors, including a vacancy resulting from an increase in the number of directors:
3) If the directors remaining in office constitute fewer than a quorum of the board, they may fill the vacancy by the affirmative vote of a majority of all the directors remaining in office."
Therefore, there is an existing board. The Association (that means all of US who own lots in HPP) is being undermined and the integrity of the Association is at risk by the behaviors of a small group on FB stirring the pot. Why? Deflection of wrong doing? There were some serious issues on the table (literally) at the 19 Jun 2019 board mtg's open session. Whatever the reason, read the FB posts with a grain of salt.
The current board of three are following our fiduciary duties to protect the Association by following all laws applicable. We didn't abandon our responsibilities to YOU, the Association. We respect our oaths to protect the Association. Please use your sensibility and rule of law while reading some of the FB posts and ask yourselves these questions:
Why would a majority board who has had COMPLETE control of all business since Oct 2018 suddenly up and resign? How can only two board members, stripped as officers by them in Oct 2018, be responsible for any of their claims? It doesn't add up.
I will keep you posted on the FACTS as they play out.
