Invest 95E turned into tropical depression Cosme in the eastern Pacific but is heading northwestward into cooler waters so isn't a threat to Hawaii.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM HST THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect until 8 PM HST this evening.

* WINDS...East 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts up to 50 mph across
the most of the Big Island and windward Molokai.

* TIMING...Strong gusty winds will continue until later this
evening due to passage of a remnant trough associated with
Barbara.

* IMPACTS...Travel will become difficult on roads especially for
high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph, or
gusts of at least 50 mph, are expected. Motorists should use
extra caution.

Thank You Barbara. Catchment tank is now full. And my drooping trees and parched lawn are now rejuvenated. Just wished there was a little wind to blow away all this humidity.

The National Weather Service will reduce the number of flood warnings they issue, starting September 16th. This is in the middle of hurricane season, so any flood warning after that date is a SERIOUS warning:

Preliminary numbers suggest that the new system — with a planned rollout beginning Sept. 16 — would pare down the number of warnings by about 80 percent, Mary Mullusky, chief of the agency's Water Resources Services Branch, said. The aim is to emphasize the most dangerous floods, as well as simplify the warnings so that they are easily understood and relatable for the people who receive them.

“People are becoming desensitized to the warning,” Mullusky said.

Issuing flood warnings almost every time it rains, in a rain forest, was overkill.

Getting a little off-topic, but I hope the same thing gets done for CD warnings about earthquakes and telling us there is no tsunami threat. It should be obvious to most by now that, e.g., a 7.1 earthquake well inland in California is not going to produce a tsunami that threatens Hawaii. Just post a warning when there is a potential tsunami.

Hi Tom,
CD screwed up so badly during the 2018 eruption they're now trying to do everything they can to try improving their image.
They now report on every little thing they can find, even if it has no bearing on CD, tying to make themselves look useful, even if it only makes more noise to hide the things you should really be concerned about.

Hawaii has been seeing the most serious effects of this heat wave. The state had its hottest summer on record, with dozens of daily temperature records falling across the islands, as well as all-time and monthly temperature records. Coral bleaching has damaged the reefs that help sustain the state’s critical tourism industry, and that is forecast to worsen in coming weeks.
The unusually warm ocean waters mean Hawaii’s traditional defense against approaching tropical storms and hurricanes does not exist this year, since it is relatively low ocean temperatures that protect the islands during most eastern Pacific hurricane seasons.
