Surgeon General pleaded for people to stop buying masks:
"Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!
They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!"
Kinda sends a mixed message to me that maybe they are effective.
I wonder if anyone still has a stock of them on island or are they gone like toilet paper at costco?

Plenty of TP at Cost-U-Less yesterday.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Kander, Masks should be a non-issue for just about everyone in Puna, as most of us should still have their 3) N95 masks that the Government paid for in the summer of 2018. They are still good to use, the use by date is 12/2022)
IF you decided to use yours for a non-emergency use, or threw them out, that really is something you should be totally responsible in replacing n a timely manner.

The panic hasn't hit lower Puna. Long's had plenty tp.
I have a care package of various masks, including some really good cartridge filter full face masks in Ohio that I was ready to ship to my wife in 2018.
On June 5 2018 they were no longer necessary !

Looping back to an earlier source, sequencing of the virus genome from one of the recent community-transferred cases in Washington state shows it is related to the first case identified back on Jan 19th in Washington state. This suggests that there has been undetected community transfer in the area for the past 6 weeks, possibly totaling hundreds of cases.

Not only is containment done, it was over before it even started.
Probably best not to panic about these virus strains, but this might have been picked up by the traffic cams on 130.

lol, I missed out on the free masks that were being given away.
I seen the video of costco and wondered if the fear of un-wiped rear end was a greater fear than getting sick. Priorities.

Plenty of TP at Safeway Sat evening and lots of everything else. I wonder if Costco attracts those who panic?

TP is Costco's #1 selling product so I'm not surprised to see them selling a lot of it. The effect is magnified in Hawaii where people have a long memory about running out of toilet paper in the past.

People aren't hoarding because they think China makes the TP. They are hoarding because "We were a few days away from the ATMs not working".
