Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads!

The road you’re thinking of is paved with good intentions.

Absolutely insane at 11am Saturday. Backed up from the roundabout to Paradise drive moving about a car length every 5 minutes. I left after 10 minutes

It's going to last 7 more days.

"The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will be closing a single lane of Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) at its intersection with Ainaloa Boulevard for the final paving of the Ainaloa Roundabout. The closure will take place daily on the following schedule:

Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 5 though Friday, Oct. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m."

By some amazing coincidence this lane closure is scheduled just in time for the opening of the Pahoa farmer's market. I heard Maku'u was going to open today too. Too bad there's no alternate route ... looks like my money and I will be staying home.

Yeah, it's an effing joke.  Spent almost 18 hours flying to Hilo from NC yesterday after working 52 days straight.  It took Kane 2.5 hours to get me because of the backup.  Guess I should feel lucky I will be quarantined for the next two weeks and can't drive to Hilo. Angry

It's a nice day for a drive. Use Beach Road just don't speed on Makuu or I'll be out there yelling at You.

Funny Obie!

A one hour round trip to iNatch and Longs turned into 2-1/2 hours to go to Pahoa yesterday for my wife. Glad I stayed home!

Has anyone used beach road recently between hpp and Hawaiian Parks and Shores? Do they still maintain it or has it become a potholed mess again?
