permanent circle of death at Ainaloa
#1
I went through the new temporary to become permanent roundabout at Ainaloa the other day.  It was pretty slick for getting into and out of Ainaloa.   How is it during rush hour for getting to / from Pahoa?

Surely if it is safer than the old suicide left turn accelerate and pray lane, perhaps you should rename this thread circle of life.

The title is a homage to one of the Punaweb classics:

My buddy drives the new circle of life to work every day. He was a skeptic but is now a big fan, not having to make that left turn.

When I live in Fairbanks  Alaska i drove for  a living and remember when they put in the first roundabout everyone including me said how terrible it was going to be but we where wrong it was the greatest thing since slice bread. They work alot better then a stoplight once everyone starts using them right.

It's now the roundabout of redemption. Are the traffic lights of terror still planned for 130/Kaloli?

This is the kind of roundabout needed in Puna. I've actually driven through this system a couple of times and it brought out a bit of a sweat, but for Puna all you need is a chair and a beer to watch the carnage.

But you can always go to the French model if you prefer:

I agree with Amrita and Hankie1.  Regardless of homage to an older thread this topic is mis-titled.  When everyone starts using it properly it will get even better.  One would assume that with the Pahoa one already there people would know what to do.  I'm not a full-on road rager but I do find myself speaking in my truck as if they could hear me.  "Go! go you idiot, it's a yield not a stop!"

I may have come up with the circle of death monicker when they had the world blocked off with the first one. But it has reduced or at least slowed down accidents.
It may have been a better option than a light for shower drive with the restricted flow pattern
