does anyone know of any Drs of Osteopathy that specifically specialize in Cranial Sacral Therapy? Or perhaps other forms of soft tissue manipulation for treatment of muscle/nerve pain.

Dr. Okahara and her husband (don't remember his name) are good in Hilo -- can't say much good about any of the others. Dr. Rapoza is a great dentist -- can't say much good about any of the others. The hospitals are even worse than the doctors.

I am under the care of Dr. Conrad and she is a good doctor. She listens to you and is also open to natural therapys.

We got the heads-up on a good doctor and Mom just saw him yesterday...he's very thorough and on Ponahawai in Hilo at that big Medical Building...his name is Dr. Chowdhury. Mom is on Medicare and Medicaid so if that info helps at all...

I had reason to use the ER at Hilo hospital and received suitable treatment in a timely, professional, even friendly manner - far better than the treatment Sophie got in one of Atlanta's premier hospitals within the same 30 day timeframe.

Right now, we couldn't be more pleased with the care Sophie receives from all her BI Dr's and their staffs.

Keaau Family Health Center got a new doc also who promised us he was staying at least two years! (Big problem there has been turnover of docs and continuity of care.) His name is Dr. Leibenmoth. Good at what he does, no BS, and a funny guy to boot.

If anyone on the board of the Bay Clinic system is lurking here - PLEASE PLEASE KEEP HIM!!

Chowdhury is excellent, he's was one of my favorites when I used to work at the hospital.

I use (on those rare occasions when someone can drag me, kicking and screaming, to a doctor) Dr. Olsen. But I don't think he's taking on new patients.

I judge a doctor by how many times he/she wants to push drugs on me after all they are legal drug pushers. Dr. Chowdury, he an his wife or shall I say ex-wife would not be my favorite kind of doctors in this area. Too much drugs and they don't follow through to monitor drug side effects and when you tell them of the side effects, they don't believe you. I don't trust doctors like them with my longterm health. Apologies for that passionate outburst but I really wish we had doctors, yes MDs, who valued vitamin supplements and were not afraid to recommend them over drugs since drugs like Lipitor have very serious side effects.

JL,

Although I heartily agree with your sentiment, we deal with the opposite problem - docs who dont believe my SO's ADHD is a very real problem - or who believe just modify behavior or take a supplement and it will be gone. My SO's case is textbook in fact. We fight and fight and fight to get his prescription each and every month... until leibenmoth I need to say..... in the recent past it depended on the docs belief system with regards to ADHD. (And believe me when medication was a distant option - he did all the other holistic and behavior modification and was worn out from the issue.)

Our doc finally said - if this works for you and we review it bi-monthly - I dont see the need for you to conform to what beliefs someone else has with regards to its existance. He said less than 50 years ago we didnt think PTSD, or post partum depression, or other things existed either.
