Well Oink, I think we could probably set you up in one of the back bedrooms. If that don't work, (their pretty small) we might want to consider the garage. Or we can start an Ohana in the back yard and put a driveway up to the Ohana. I'm open to suggestions. Always did want to have a commune type of living setup. No telling where this might go.

Good choice Chili.. on staying calm! There will be ups and downs.
Once the trusses & tin go up - poof your house will look like it is almost ready to move into! Then comes drywall....which seems to take forever.

Thanks Cat. What you said about calming down is right. My son and I are going up this morning. We hope the "poof" part is done ie; joists, plywood ,tin. Then we won't be going up as often, so the period of time it takes for the dry wall will slowly take care of itself. We need to start looking for some of the items needed when we move in, like bunk beds for charlies room, refridgerator, living room chairs, throw rugs and such. We have already found a mover that is reasonably priced to get us out of our apartment and into the house. Now we can browse about looking for some of the items mentioned above. It is going to be an on going process since we can only acquire a little at a time. I thought Santa was going to leave me a digital camera but I think he must have left it at the North Pole. So I'll be stopping at Long's to pick up another disposable this morning to record the progress on the roof.
Aloha, Chili

Thanks Cat. You're a wonderful example of the way people in Puna help each other by actions, not words. Carey has also offered the use of her digital but I don't want to be responsible for something I can't afford to replace if I damage it while it's in my possession. Now for the great news!!!
The roof is on and completed. We went up yesterday and arrived around 11 am, and the last sheet of roofing was going on. It looks wonderful. I put it on video but didn't stop for a disposable camera, so it will be awhile, unless Cat goes up next week and takes some pics and emails them to me. The roof is a light shade of green, and is the only one on the block that color. When they get around to painting the house a soft pastel shade of yellow, and the windows and trim done in white, I think it will look cheerful and inviting. I'm so happy to be blessed with owning a home in Hawaii. Even better, in Puna.

No new pics yet but the windows and sliding door are in our house. The roof is done. The ADA shower stall is installed. They were going to put on the siding yesterday but it was raining too much. Both front and back porchs are up. I went yesterday to pick out the color and type of carpet and the linoleum that will be put in. Going out today to pick out the exterior and interior paint, as well as all door handles and the baseboard. Things are moving along pretty quickly now. Wont't be long now.......

Went up yesterday morning and found 5 or 6 men going about they're business. The siding is on and they were hooking up the power to the temp pole. Must be getting ready for the electrican and the plumber. It was pouring rain but I managed to snap off about 10 pics on the disposible camera. Will try to get them posted this week.

Won't be long now. Contracter told me yesterday the plumbing and electrical were finished and the sheetrock would be delivered next Tuesday. I met him at Home Depot to pick out the countertop colors and the type of stain wanted on the kitchen cabinets. I'm going up this morning to finish off the roll of film on the disposable camera, so they should be posted by the weekend. He said it looked like they would probably finish up by March. Thats a month earlier than originally planned. YIPPEEE!!!! I can't wait. Had to sign a correction done on the specs. Appears they didn't have the type of windows in stock that were called for so rather than wait six weeks for them to come in, he upgraded to double paned glass all the way around the house. A free added bonus. Will post pics in a few days. Till then, Aloha everyone, Chili
