You do not need to get a new license until your current one expires, but you do need to renew PRIOR to when the new one expires, and you probably will not get a renewal notice. You will need to take a written test. Drivers manual study booklets are available at most stores and is online at:

Info on drivers licenses is at:

You can get a state ID card for resident discounts (mainly at touristy things)

If you are bringing a car over from the mainland, it is supposed to have a Hawaii tax sticker on it or they will give you a ticket for not paying road taxes. If you have Hawaii plates, then you don't need the out of state tax sticker.

Other than the Hawaii tax sticker, are there any other taxes/fees/things that somebody shipping a vehicle should be aware of?

Thanks

And there's a separate second test for a motorcycle endorsement. The study material is not in the regular manual.
