Meeting and Petition for Pesky Helicopters
Daniel, the CAOA has a great informational site at http://www.freewebs.com/caoahawaii/
Also, there is a complaint form you can fill out,to help the CAOA voice public concerns to gov.officials to do something. We need to collect evidence, present petitions(there is one on the site) and get media attention. We appreciate any help in this matter.

Thanks Nightowl.

And Bob,I get what your saying, however, things are very different here. For example, our Governor Lingle accepted campaign money for the superferry, and then got a bill passed to supercede State Court to have the ferry run anyway, without the EPA!!! This State seems to think its only source of income comes from tourists. They will never be cooperative with your suggestion about the landing issue at Hilo airport.Politics here is VERY DIFFERENT.Although we are not dismissing your idea,it is only one of many that we are pursuing. If you feel your method is the best, then please submit further details about your angle. How would you tell the State or County to pony up?Because as it stands now,the Federal government is in charge of the County and the State, and are in absolute control over airspace!People have been complaining for years to the State and County. What do you propose, specifically to make it different this time?

BOB YOU ARE WRONG---DO NOT REPLY HERE ANYMORE,PLEASE.You are redunadant and one tracked. You are not familiar with how much research we have done. You just started looking into this.I can tell.Plese do not pick apart the writings of others and misinform others;especially since you are not here and do not know what u r talking about. For your info.green harvest has done more damage to livestoick and proprty than u know.I friend of mine was startled one day by them while washing windows, fell out and was unconscious for half an hour!People's dogs have been illegally SHOT!This is about our rights. You are not helping.I know you mean well, but please do not sound like an authority on something you know NOTHING ABOUT.I u want to contavt privately and converse fine. But do not hijack this thread,or i will report you to Rob.Thank you and do not respond on this thread anymore.

Daniel, yes,I live on the island, and love it,except for those helicopters.I have lupus, and sometimes they are so bad I have to double my medication from the stress.

And Bob,I agree with Thunderfoot. If you do not live here, and it takes several years to really understand the local atmosphere, you won't understand the full scope of this problem. It is like a third world country over here, expecially in areas of poverty.

so much....and so little time

Thunderfoot some other statements YOU have made:

"Whether you live in Hawaii or not......PLEASE Come make a difference,"

"Can't people just speak their mind without everyone getting personal. On this issue of overflights,I try to be clinical and legal.I try to leave my personal and emotional stuff out of it."

"I admire your passion and respect your views, but I don't have to agree. That is the beauty of free will.PLEASE EVERYONE WE ARE ALL FAMILY !!!!!!!!!! Let's come together and show ALOHA"

"Also, what does it matter who we are really, but the message we try to speak.Everyone is entitled to their view, but people should not knock the perspective of others in the process of expressing their view.We can all converse here and find solutions together."

"Thanks again for your input and support.Keep those ideas coming................"

"And you don't have to have a strong opinion to leave comments about this important issue.I encourage everyone's comments whether they are supportive, oppositional or neutral. That is the beauty of having this forum for all of us to converse in.I hope this inspires others to come out of the woodwork and join us in this discussion."

"10.) keep smiling even when annnoyed"

"Please keep those thinking caps on ,we need all of the help and input we can get from everyone."

"And if you have any solutions you want to offer, let's here em.We are open to discussion and value your ideas."

"We look forward to more stimulating ideas, input and comments.HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL."

So,what has happened? Somebody else's ideas that you do not agree with are no longer valid. You want to pick and choose who can say what, when and where?

Report to Rob - Please do!

As Rob has said:

"Whoa Nelly, I hadn't been monitoring this topic and it seems to have run out of control. Allow me to do my monitor job now.

Now hear this:

Some of you need to grow up. I believe you know who you are. If you don't know who you are and this continues I will remind you."

Rob hopefully you will read this COMPLETE (14 pages) posting and try and make a fair and honest assessment of "who needs to grow up".

I am not certian what hi-jacking a topic entails but in my opinion - it has not happened here!

Thunderfoot - I admire your passion and respect your views, but I don't have to agree. You have lost my support.

THANKS MELLA AND NIGHTOWL

To Menehune: I meant all those things, and Rob told wjbillcock to not hijack the thread. The grow up phrase was aimed at him.
Hijacking is what Bob is doing without all the facts.Yes,whether you live here or not, please participate. But when you hijack a thread to force your angle on everyone else, without listening to what has already been said, causes a lot of redundancy, and confusion for people that are just learning about this issue.Yes,Bob is intelligent and I appreciate his ideas,I have even said so.However,he started to be extremely forceful, ignored my answers to questions, ignored a lot of the truths and pushed himself so hard that the thread was only concentrating on that.Yes,that upset me,I am human. And yes, maybe I should have worded my comments differently, but what I say is true and I will not apologize for that.At least it did get some reaction out of people, which seems difficult to do these days.He can come back on the thread if he wants, just make your point and move on,do not keep harping on the same thing.Give your ideas, but do not poo poo others ideas and work, that is wrong. And living here, knowing the local culture and mindset is an element Bob does not have in this topic,so please,he should not sound like he is an authority on the matter,he isn't.I am not either, but I have studied it for years and Bob is just starting.I appreciate his enthusiasm.Perhaps he should put that to work and post the definitions/legal terms he was talking about. But he just wants to suggest ideas, and not particioate in helping, them please submit them and move on;we can not get stuck in one direction whaere everything else gets lost.THANKS,I really do mean it.I am Thankful for the oportunity to meet and converse with you all, even Bob and wjbillcock. We don't have to agree to appreciate each other.

Addendum: people should not base their support on the personality of a groups Board members, but on the groups mission and purpose. With an organization,One supports a mission, not a particular person.Business is not about whether you like someone or not.In fact I do have to like thecashier at Safeway, for example, but I would still shop there. Also,it is a shame that the CAOA would loose the support for their mission based on one human emotional response of one person when they were frustrated.I made my apology for that, like a grown up.But even though my emotions may have disflavored the contex, the content remains true.

Personally, I have to agree with Bob and menehune.

I hope that you have luck reducing helicopter overflights, because I hate them, however, I think that your strategies are not well thought out. JMHO

I got a call to check out this thread,so,here I am.
First,The CAOA has not revealed its stategies, only activities and mission. My name is David, and I am on the Board of the CAOA.I agree with Thunderfoot,Mella and Nightowl.Bob has been repeating himself about contacting the State and County officials.Thunderfoot has repeatedly responded to Bob,thanked him,and has asked that he not get stuck on that point.Yes ideas are good, but let us not keep suggesting the same one over and over, especially when it has been already been noted. Also, the CAOA has had a strategy to contact any and all officials fom the start, but By-Laws needed to be written, and other important tasks in order to move forward to do that.In fact we had begun that process, but hadn't felt a need to spell it out so detailed;until now of course. The CAOA has a mission to help get relief from the over flight issue, let us not cloud that with matters of personality or agreements in strategy.
I am 81 years old, live in Hawaiian Paradise Park, and am so fired up about this issue, that I am literally spending my last moments on this Earth(my death bed!) to try and make it better.I am a veteran and am in and out of the hospital all the time now,the added stress of helicopters makes me feel like I am back in the war.I am on my fourth pacemaker and am here spending what could even be my last breath to tell you the helicopters are abusive! We need to change the rules for non-compliant pilots, that is my thoughts on strategy. The petition on CAOA's website is a way to help.Yes,it is encompassing, but we only want to do it once, instead of a bunch of times for different things. If you agree with our mission, and not the petition, then just send us a letter,or fill out the form at our website to construct your views. Also,it is noteworthy that 156 people did sign the petition in one day! That speaks loudly as to what the locals are feeling. We now have over 400 signatures ,in a matter of about three weeks, that is meaningful.

We will be out at Makuu Market on Sunday,Nov.11.Come out and talk to us there.I am sorry I will not be able to attend,I am going back into the hospital, again.Hope to be able to talk here again soon.
