Window broken at Pohoiki

I think it off the mark to think Shane is targeted in this. There has been repeated vandalism to the work vehicles for the park development. Smashed and broken trucks. payloaders etc. This is simply ignorant, probably drug fueled, stupidity of a type that plagues every community in the country.

It means that people trying to make a living, those with initiative to grow a business and the dicipline to work thru all the regulations and licensing and work real hard at their new enterprise can stir up jealousy and animosity at times in some people.

Instead of spending all day at the park like we once could now were generally working like crazy like most other business owners. That said set backs pertaining pohoiki & lack of lava have not maid things a cake walk exactly for us as a company. The taxes we pay which is $400+ a month helps with the up keep last I checked. We havent pointed any fingers but we did report this crime this time. As my website states my family has been fishing here for over 20 years, feel free to ask my father anytime. As for what I want for the lifeguard stand Im sure that I alone do not have the power to make something like that happen, contact the fire department to find out more about why if you like. A serious problem was addressed dealing with this ramp and it seems no one cares, its a boat ramp plain and simple!

For those who dont know a wide array of other fishermen & boat have experienced similar problems while out at sea. Some popped tires, broken window, stolen truckes, burnt trucks, so what is going to change I thought the idea of a security guard was because of problems like this maybe I miss something.

Now it seems eventhough were still running the smaller of our vessels like we said we planned to do were still having petty thug like problems.

Mella, it seems that the a lot of assumptions are being made. Who actually did the crime? Does anyone know? If not, then why assume it's locals, or someone on drugs, or trip-wire vets, or someone who is jealous as you mentioned.

Shane -

Walmart hires security guards to protect there assets. Have you thought about hiring your own security and increasing your rates[?]

Or possibly looking into a complete different business venture?

It sounds like from reading the above post from Lloydenriques (whom I have a great deal of respect for and know that one of his son's is a Former World JR. Longboard Champion that trains in the Pohoiki area) that you have burned bridges with many of the locals.

What could you do to repair those bridges?

It sounds as though you are repeatedly being targeted.

It's almost like domestic abuse. You love the land so much... but the land doesn't love you[V] Why stick with a partner that is only going to harm you?[?]

Not sure why a swimming problem, the root of this whole issue, has anything to do with my respect level for some particular people and how they are tied to Pohoiki. Of these people Ive had very little interactions with and none have ever been out on a trip with us. When we were operating and making a daily wage I tried to give what I could, which at the time was fish most of the time. Anyhow I hope all you that think that this cant happen to you think again and go look in the police record you'll see that theres definitly a problem that should be addressed.

I feel for you man, but I think you need to put your hat in your hand, humbly ask for forgivness, shake hands, hug, and converse person to person see how YOU can do to resolve your 'problems' directly .... I bet you can turn things around in a day with a simple conversation and get love right afta' real world follow through on you part.
