Mella....the front of the house off the extended lanai is around 9' and the back near 3', wanted to get it as high as practical to take advantage of the view.

Love the updates! Quick question, if you don't mind...what is the square footage of your house?

A little over 1800 feet of living area plus 446 feet of garage and 1045 feet of covered lanai. A bit larger than our original intention but we're very happy with how it's turning out.

Why did you choose post and pier? cost, bugs, flood? Why not a block or poured foundation of a slab?

There were several reasons...slope of the lot and we wanted to get as high as practical to take advantage of the view, air circulation, hopefully to help deter some of the insects and easy access to plumbing, etc. We have ended up with a considerable amount of storage space too.

The trusses were delivered and installed this past week, some new pictures at http://www.southpointhawaii.com/our_new_...harbou.htm

Just fixed the link...typing is not one of my better skills!

The sheathing and most of the siding is up. Heading over in a few weeks to do some speaker/PC wiring, exterior painting and install intakes for a central vacuum system.
