LOL... no, if it was Texas we would not be talking about these things...
we would be talking about the what type of gun is better for household use, a shotgun or a .45... [Smile]

Yep, it is still the USA which unfortunately means that you will get as much justice as you can afford. That stuff you (may have) used lethal force to protect might have to be sold to pay for your defense in court.

A very interesting and timely (for this topic) story appeared this morning in the L.A. Times regarding someone who confronted looters at his home in the fire zone. Fortunately this individual did the right thing.

Both opinions on this matter are valid. It just depends on the circumstances and having common sense to react accordingly.

Oink....

Being one that chose to go through the the CCL training and carried a gun in Texas, I was taught that if you ever have to pull a gun, you life will change forever. And if you fire it, you will go to jail, so be sure its needed.

I believe this is true in any circumstance.

Though in Texas it is legal to chase down the crook that has your DVD player, I would never do it, but I might follow him so the cops will know where he went.

LOL... but a shotgun does so much damage to the home...

I prefer the choice.

shotgun by the bed so if I am sleepy I can still hit something... and the .45 for the more precise shots.

Rob,

That is what is so wonderful about this country. If you are confronted by a CRIMINAL who has intentions to steal, rob, or do bodily harm to yourself you can attempt to *****foot around and talk the punk into reason. That is your choice [kill them with kindness] I, on the other hand prefer to put one thru their melon and call it a day.

I wonder which of us would walk away from a situation like this advantageous.

Our Constitution grantees us this right. Why would I have to do research into an inalienable right? Protecting me and mine with a gun is the right thing to do. Trying to turn people into a bunch of candy ass’s is the wrong thing to do.

Buy a gun and use it if necessary, and before you know it the bad guys will all go away.

Get the Best of Both Worlds [Big Grin]
My personal Favorite is the Taurus 410 Judge.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrSGiJG25E4

Fires 410 shotgun shells or .45-calibre Colt slugs.

load a 45 slug in every other chamber, fill the remaining chambers with 410 shells.... problem solved [:p]

Tom, I think you are insisting on remaining ignorant of the law. You do not have an inalienable right to use lethal force except under very proscribed conditions. You might think that you can personally decide what those conditions are but you will be fooling yourself. I would prefer to not read about your trial and your unhappiness with your court appointed public defender in the paper. I would also not like to read the obituary on some young dummy that was killed because of wanting your stereo.

Your position is that you reserve the right to be judge, jury and executioner. I haven't found that anywhere in the constitution. I tend to suspect that even Texas (and Hawaii is not Texas) does not allow people to take the law into their own hands.

So take a couple minutes and try to educate yourself on the facts. Wishful thinking will not serve you well on this subject.

Actually, Rob... in Texas, you house is your castle. Even before the Texas Castle Laws ( http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/...a8cbd.html )

the police instructed home owners to deal with the problem, that all the police can do is help clean up the mess.
