HPP under attack!!!!

BTW ...I wish people would actually look up statistics and do some research before forming opinions.
Statistics can be and are regularly “massaged” so back up one’s opinion. I found a web site that shows the USA is 24th in homicide rate….when compared world wide. If you compare France to USA ( I picked it randomly) their homicide rate is lower, but overall crime is the same and WOW look at those suicide rates!! Especially among the elderly…I guess they don’t take care of the old folks over there…..but there I go ASSUMING again……

To the people who want to defend themselves or their loved ones from eminent harm, with guns, I say fine, but some people here just sound so gun happy. Has anyone speaking like this, making jokes, make my day, etc., actually killed someone? Actually know how it feels and how it effects not only the person killed and their entire family but how it will effect the rest of your life? I mean think how you would feel seeing a 16 year old, sweet faced kid, dead, lying on your floor, blood all over. Hell, chopping someone#699;s right hand off for thievery is less barbaric than that. Think of all the scenarios. Maybe the kid was trying to steal something on a dare, ever got dared when you were a kid? Even if the kid was trying to get money for drugs by coming in your house and grabbing a CD player, no one will ever know what he would be like at age 30, but I guess you will still have your CD player, at least till planned obsolesce. Yeah, people make bad choices in life, everyone does one way or another. Most people are given the chance to live and learn.

I say the best preventative measures should be the first order of business, and there are many suggested in this thread, and using a gun should only be a last resort in order to save yourself or family member.

I like the idea of a flare pistol firing blanks in 20 guage. Put one shot into the floor as soon as you hear him in the house and he's going to be killing himself trying to get out of there. If he doesn't, have another ready, as just the muzzle blast should stop him.

What would the PD charge you with for firing a blank to scare unwanted persons from your place? Or would there be any way to generate a very loud to immobilizing sound? I like the new mil. weapon for crowd control.

Golly Gee,

The goody two shoes have spoken and now I feel so much better. Look, all of this started simply because I responded to Beachboy’s thread by saying,

“Get a gun and learn how to use it. It is your right.”

Then the far left responds with

“Tom, Just what does that mean? You have the right to use lethal force to protect personal property?
Perhaps you could research and report back with some facts instead of putting forth a cliche.”

What part of left field did that come from? Just who said “lethal force”? Those aren’t my words they are yours. I repeat, I said, “Get a gun and learn how to use it. It is your right.”

Then I get slapped with your words not mine.

“I would like for you to research the actual law before you recommend that people use lethal force and perhaps 1) end up killing someone and 2) end up in prison for years of their life.”
The mention of someone portecting themself with a weapon brings terror into the hearts of a liberal. Please don’t twist what I say. Yes, I do believe in the concept of lethal force as do the police when protecting life and limb, I always have and I always will.

I’m not going to rehash this whole thread, but I find it quite condescending when you say

“Tom makes a great leap forward! There is a big difference between judge, jury and executioner and making a citizen's arrest.

Congratulations.

Meanwhile Tom you should be aware that being armed generally poses more risk to you than to anyone else. It is your choice. Wanna get into a tug or war for a gun with a desperate twenty year old? Your choice.”

Thanks for acknowledging that I have a choice, If it were up to the liberal world he would be the only one with a gun. I chose to wrestle the punk for my gun not his.

Most people don't know how they will handle what comes after killing another human being.
Most people don't know how they will handle an event that puts their life at rick. At one time I did not believe that people would go into hysterics from fear, but during a tornado I had to help people that were frozen with fear and others that could not stop screaming.

As a male child my father explained to me over and over what it takes to be a man. One of the main rules - "Do what you have to do, worry about your feelings later". That rule has managed to get me through some toughs situations.

I have no desire to shoot a kid, or anyone else. I have no desire to shoot anyone for stealing my cd player. However, when you break into a home, especially an occupied home, you put it all at risk. The resident would be very foolish to not be in fear for his/her life and for that of their family. In that situation you are an idiot if you think the police can get there in time to be of any assistance while it still matters. If in such situations you wish to be a passive victim, well that is your choice. My family means more to me than that. If you choose to have a gun, by all means become knowledgable, proficient and careful. If you want to depend completely no the police for your protection, then make sure you live in a very safe crime free area. I don't think Puna qualifies. I currently live in a rural area in a county that has comparably little crime compared to surrounding counties but the area is not crime free. I wouldn't want to shoot a kid but some of our murders were by people that would fall into the kid or youth category but were already hardened criminals. Blame society if you want, but they do exist and there are many more of them than most people would want to know about. There are plenty of "kids" that would feel little, if any, guilt after killing you. I feel much better knowing my wife is not defenceless when I'm not there. I am overdue to take her out for practice.

Tom, what do you expect from people that seem to think it is okay to confiscate hard earned money from one man and redistribute it to another.

I guess letting people walk away with your stuff is just another wealth redistribution program.
