I agree damon totally. if you want to go to websites surfing, there are plenty of websites about bad, i mean BAD neighbors. there are even organizations to help people. most of these people are bullies, some are mentally ill, some just seeking power. the worst ones have no reason, they have some excuse for their behavior but all in all it is power. i agree the fence is not the issue. you can see the man is gleeful with what he has accomplished here. remember the movie "Pacific Heights"??? i realize that is fiction, but there are thousands of cases out there like this and i truely feel for these people. post the mans name. there is no slander in posting someones name after their starring role on screen. my own horror story came to a conclusion after 2 other women came forward when my situation went to court. if i hadnt had others i would have lost because like someone mentioned, the courts hate neighbor issues, and i had to set in court the first day and be admonished by the high and mighty judge that why didnt we both grow up and what was wrong with us? etc. believe me , if a crazed man was attacking and stealing my dog i would put up whatever kind of fense i could. i would post that video whereever i could and play that recording of his rant on a loudspeaker in front of my property everytime he was approaching his fense... he is dangerous and crazed.

I have noticed on this board that no matter what has happened to a victim explaining their story, many of the people here will find a way to point a finger at the victim. The fact that this fence being ugly was ever brought up, is a standard thing on punaweb. Its terrible what happened to you, but man id be mad too because of that fence. I cant believe how many posters made a comment like the one above.

I guess on punaweb, unless you are rich and can afford a nice fence for a wacko to distroy, then you kinda deserve / or at least played a part in earning the violent jerk next door?

my fav fence, blue agave 2 deep. Find a flowering agave and you have 100s of plants. Nothing goes through a agave fence. I will be working on the agave fence for our property.

My heart goes out to you. The idea that its normal for the victim to have to move is disgusting. Im sure with the worthless police force in hawaii, that option is probaly even more the norm. The worst part is if you ever have to defend yourself againt the crazy, then you will be the one in jail. I hope the guy mellows out and you get to contuinue your Hawaii dream.

pacific heights yes, the man is a tenant, but the story is still about someone who starts picking on 2 people for god knows what reason... i think this lady stated the fense went up after the problems started. i guess my point was if you are dealing with a bully there is no "reason" for their actions sometimes. and yes, dirk, punaweb, as society in general, seems on a trend to blame the victim and coddle the bad guy as other posts have shown.

You're right the tenant did go off, I don't remember why, I saw that movie a long time ago!
Anyone find out the name of the NFH (Neighbor From H---)? Where this all took place? How on earth did this all get started?

Agave is the cheapest fence available and requires NO CARE WHATSOEVER. It will even keep out most dogs and cats.[]

Thanks for your comments Damon, and thanks for the agave recommendation Dirk, we will definitely look into it.

WRT all the fence haters out there, I would first like to point out that the neighbors are welcome to put up a fence on their side at any time, thus blocking their view of our fence, or even eliminating the need for us to keep our fence up. Second. please see my second post on page one:
"Yes, the fence is not very pretty, but it was a necessity. We hired two guys to put up an unobtrusive field fence. After the fourth day of attempting to put up the fence, only to have our efforts sabotaged and vandalized each evening, this fence was a last resort."

KathyH, I do know that you are not attacking me. I appreciate that you have been in a similar situation and are just trying to show me the other side of things. I do feel we have plenty of witnesses and documentation wrt justifying the erection of the fence. I did want to clarify something.

Perhaps something I wrote led you to the conclusion that we put the fence up only to have the neighbor arrested for trespassing? If so, that was not my intention. The only reason for the fence is the safety of my family, especially my 5 year old son. The neighbor was crossing the property line and coming onto our side prior to putting the fence up, to our knowledge, that behavior has now stopped.

We did not have the privilege of putting up an "attractive" fence after our field fence efforts were thwarted. The expense for materials and labor of erecting a 350 foot field fence was already beyond our budget. We still have the materials for our original fence and someday, when we can safely work on it, and sure our efforts will not be in vain, we do plan to replace the current fence with it.

I would call the police, then go out and work on the fence. Maybe the police will show up just in time to catch him in the act. Or get a good digital movie cam and set it up on a tripod to video tape EVERYTHING while you are out there working on it. Buy pepper spray so you can defend yourself legaly if nessasary.
Once again my heart goes out to you. I cant imagine the jail time I would probaly already be searving with a nut job like that as a neighbor.
