What is digging a home in my back yard?
#11
I ran across a huge toad three days ago while poking at weeds in my back yard. Flat black cinder and here pops a big toad from a neat hole only the size of him. He just sat there staring at me while I said "well, and who are you?". I thought it was the strangest thing and a first for me in my 14 years here. We are talking no water anywhere nearby, just hot black cinder (?).

btw, the plural of mongoose is mongoose. [Big Grin]
Mongoose is derived from an Indic language, not English, so it is not in any way related to our word goose nor takes the plural according to the English rule exception.

So would multiple mongoose be referred to as a gaggle or a herd?

I know you're joking, but mongoose don't herd. They seem to be loners. (not sure if they hang out in couples of not). If I saw a mongoose herd I would worry that something bizarre was on its way! [Smile]

I'm LMAO thinking of herding mongoose. Worse than herding cats.
