Being the devils advocate:

(b) A dog shall not be deemed a noisy dog for purposes of this section if, at the time the dog is barking or making any other noise, a person is trespassing or threatening to trespass upon private property in or upon which the dog is situated or for any other legitimate cause which teased or provoked the dog. So... If the dog in question be barking at a pig, mongoose, stray (polite word for dogs that are shown the door at night) or its shadow...

One could stretch ( I would if the boys in blue were at my door) and call that a "legitimate" reason for all the commotion, we all know of the pig or the neighbors stray that comes by and sets off the dogs every 20 minutes or so.....

Any thoughts?

If you have other neighbors, poll them if the constant barking affects them as well. There is strength in numbers. The police are more likely to listen to a group than an coccassional random call. I have a neighbor who lets their dog sit in the window and bark all day and night at nothing important what so ever and wonders why the police have issued her a citation (get a clue). She was going around trying to find out who reported her. That's not the point just curb your noisy dog and your neighbors will be happy, hint.

I think that barking becomes a nuisance when it bothers homeowners. It is better than dogs running wild. But in the end, anyone buying property here should do several "night checks" to see if airliners, dogs, roosters, coqui frogs, cane toads or other noises are present. Hello??? Why would you move to an area with noises that would disturb your life? If you choose to live in a wild area... you get some noises.

devany, i have been in this home 30+ years, the jerk moved here 6 years ago. there is no way to predict the future. no one loves dogs or all animals more than me, and of course i realize "dogs bark" as beachboy says. but if the point of these "living fences" is to warn of intruders and you dont even live there then the noise is just for the benefit of the neighbors. he has alienated everyone and although in general we have a very safe neighborhood he has had several incidents. no one even looks out now when his dogs are barking because it is so non-stop. the police did say they would issue a citation wow biggy 25 bucks, but they needed "proof" who owned the dogs since no one lives there, just the dogs and the slaughter pigs. oh joy, since my first post on this thread, he just brought in a puppy. how cute, a little puppy chain all its own.[V]

That's an interesting idea, but few but the most high buck home stereo speakers will produce any meaningful output at 20 khz or higher. One would want to be sure of such thing or the whole idea would be a waste of time.
