Another What Is This Plant request
#1
Hello. I'm a new resident in Puna. I planted a small test garden about a week ago with radishes, beans, lettuce. They all sprouted quickly but this morning, and overnight, a strange grayish translucent type of plant came up among my radishes and was the same size as my week old radish plants. The stems were centered with a spoke-like pattern coming from the center stem area to the edge of the leaf. I've never seen anything like it before. Even more strangely, I ran errands into Hilo and returned a few hours later. Every one had disappeared with no sign of an animal or bird tracks. If anyone has any ideas or answers, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Hi Charlie, if they disappeared so quickly I am going to suggest they were mushrooms from your description. I have seen some very unusual types here. I think they hitch rides in bags of soil amendments and only show up due to our tropical weather.

Thanks. I added some commercial potting soil to the area where I planted. I also thought they could be some type of mushroom but have never seen any come and go so quickly.
