Lol. I really hope the CB article is wrong. That would make me feel a lot better.
Apparently there is more than one news outlet confused.

Quote:“Beginning Jan. 8, that means patrons who seek service indoors need to show proof that they’ve received a booster shot as soon as they are eligible, which means after six months have passed since the last dose or Pfizer or Moderna, or two months after Johnson & Johnson.”
It wasn’t immediately what the impact of the change will have on Maui County businesses.
But state Health Department data shows just 20% of Maui residents have gotten a third dose of the vaccine. That’s lower than the statewide figure: 24.7%.

Pretty soon you will be standing naked on Pahoa Village Road jumping up and down and ranting.
Better find a place to move to because Hawaii is going to chew you up and spit you out.

County website seems to say what the CB and Hawaiinewsnow articles state.

Should have kept your vax card. Since they dont do much in the way of preventing infection or infecting others, the only thing a vax card does is avert government tyranny. least for now.

So, how has it been going for them over the past few months? I haven’t heard how businesses are coping.
Very few people in the US period are getting boosters. This will severely reduce their revenue and they will be sending away a lot more customers. They are already having trouble with the current requirements with the comments I have seen on the CB and other places. This will be murder on them at this point.
I like how you can just shrug that off when you aren't the one who has to enforce it. Especially when there's no evidence a booster is going to slow down the spread of Omicron or is even necessary to prevent hospitalization.
I still maintain the people who push these policies are evil whether they realize it or not.
If you truly believed in what you are doing, then why don't you just send the cops out to round up everyone who won't boost? At least then the proper people would be enforcing the rules, not some random business owners.
Either way I just burned my vax card.
I don't like how you interpret my sincere question regarding how the Maui restaurant industry is faring with the restrictions in place since September as "shrugging it off". WTH?
Enforcement goes like this: The hostess asks to see your vax card. You produce it, fine. You don't, you're asked to leave. Sure, they may have to deal with a few dickheads once in awhile, that's probably not very common. I personally know someone working in this position, but not in Hawaii.
Burning vax card-Brilliant!

Some folks just do not do math well!
Fully vaccinated 6months & less are allowed in, so go back to the Maui Data for July 8 (six month back from the date this law will be instituted).... all of the folks that have been fully vaccinated from Jul 8-Jan 8 are included as well as those that have been booster (that = over 27,000 in Maui County).... so no, it is NOT JUST the folks that have had their booster....
Granted, it could be higher... but I think that is what the mayor is trying to encourage... higher rate of booster shots...

He's basically banning 75%+ of the population from eating out etc."
75%+ is only if folks in Maui with booster shots are counted... add in the fully vaccinated who are less than 6 months... ya gotta add over 27,000 folks to the total... & maybe even more, if folks in Maui choose to get fully vaccinated & boosters...

I posted this and you never answered.
"Been to any resorts lately ?
The rules on Maui don't apply to outdoor dining."
It will skew your percentages .

This is one of the weirdest threads I've participated in. I asked some questions because the OP didn't cite a decent reference that backed up his or her claim, and now we're here. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything better.
Oh, and Rob, I think it was the semicircle of doom that set things off. One of the best threads ever on PW!
